Ware Academy building razed

A chapter in the history of Ware Academy came to an end this week with the demolition of Noland Hall. “While this historic building represents years of memories for the Ware community, its continued deterioration has become a growing safety liability for students, staff and visitors,” according to a statement on the school’s Facebook page. “This decision has not been made lightly. Our primary responsibility is to ensure a safe, sustainable, and forward-looking campus environment.” Trustees of the Gloucester County Day School (the former name of Ware Academy) purchased the old Wan store in 1962 and shaped the building into a permanent home for the school. The change “allows us to plan thoughtfully for the future use of the space—one that honors our past while serving the evolving needs of our school community,” the statement continued.
