Walton Landon Brown, 75, of Hayes, died Jan. 31, 2018, at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Walt was a lifelong resident of Gloucester, born Aug. 28, 1942, to Mintree Folkes and Margie West Brown.  Walt, known as “Big Walt,” was an avid softball player and enjoyed fishing. He was a faithful fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Walt was a hard worker, fighting the elements to provide for his family by working on the water. Walt was a strong man with a big heart. Beautiful memories we will keep of the one that we loved and will never forget.

He was preceded in death by parents, and sisters, Mary Siegler, Joyce Ann Jenkins and Alice M. Hicks.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Barbara Ann Brown; sons, Walton Scott Brown (Lore) and Timmy Landon Brown (Niki); granddaughter, Cody N. Brown; brothers, Mintree Brown Jr. (Rachel) and Russell Brown (Barbara Jean), and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life service conducted by the Rev. Bill West was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Groves Memorial Presbyterian Church, 9117 Glass Road, Hayes, Va. 23072. Private inurnment will be in the church cemetery.
