A funeral for Walter James “Buck” West Jr.. 77, of Hayes, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. He died Sunday, July 14, 2013.

He was born Dec. 17, 1935 in Hayes where he was a lifelong resident of Tidemill Road. He was retired from Suitt Company as foreman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Walter J. West Sr., and his first wife, Ida Gay West.

Survivors include his wife, Judy West; two sons, James Stacy West and Matthew Allen West; daughter, Amanda Whiteman; two step-daughters, Jamie West Moore and Kelly West Thomson; two brothers, Frank West and Donald West; sister, Ann Haywood, and six grandchildren.

The family received friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m.

The service will be conducted by the Rev. Chris Morgan and the Rev. Doug Johnson. Interment with military honors will follow in Gloucester Point Cemetery.
