Walker earns second All-American title in national tournament

Local wrestlers McKenzie Walker and Michaela Foley, both students at Gloucester High School, recently returned from the Girls Folkstyle National and Junior Women’s Tournament held March 27-29 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Walker, competing as a freshman, placed fifth in the cadet division to earn her second All-American title. She is now an All-American in both folkstyle and freestyle wrestling. Foley, returning from an injury, came within one match of placing.

The girls were with the Virginia Women’s Team, which placed fourth in the team duals in a bracket of 12. Walker and Foley will compete again April 18 in Michigan and May 3 in New York.

To help cover their travel expenses, the girls will have a fundraising car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in bay 4 of JW’s Car Wash on the corner of Route 14 and Main Street. ...
