WAHNETAH DARLYNE KETH SELPH

Wahnetah Darlyne Keth Selph died Monday, May 7, 2012, at her Saluda home.  She was born in Summerville, Pa., January 30, 1924, to Frank Henry and Dora Jean Pearce Keth, and also lived in Blairsville, Pa. and Triangle, Va., where she met her future husband as she worked as a cashier at Quantico Marine Corps Base.  Wahnetah married Richard Talmadge Selph in June 1943 and moved to Caroline County with him and was a loyal and devoted wife and homemaker for 56 years until his death in 2001.  At that time she moved to Saluda to be closer to her children.

She was also predeceased by a sister, Effie Marie Keth Scott and two infant sons, Frank Talmadge and Stuart Kenneth.  Wahnetah is survived by a sister, Nancy Schlesinger of Vacaville, Ca.; four children,  Richard (Monica) of Gloucester; Charles (Betty) of North; G. David (Deanie) of Saluda and Betty Muncy (Minor) of Saluda; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Wahnetah was a member of the Eastern Star Caroline County Chapter 174 and Saluda Baptist Church.  She was also an avid cross-stitcher and family historian, receiving the Senior Researcher Award in 2001 for having persevered the most in researching the Self-Selph family in America.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 9 at 4 p.m. at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda, with private burial in the future.
