Wagner to leave GCPS June 30

Dr. Chuck Wagner, assistant superintendent for instruction at Gloucester County Public Schools, is leaving the division to fill the role of superintendent at King William County Public Schools beginning July 1.

The information was announced Tuesday evening on the KWCPS Facebook page. Wagner has been assistant superintendent for more than a decade. His departure comes at a difficult time for the school division, as Gloucester County’s superintendent Dr. Walter R. Clemons is retiring from his post, also on July 1, and the school board is currently in the midst of a search for his replacement.

Neither Wagner nor Gloucester County School Board chairman Troy Andersen could be reached for comment by press time.
