Volunteers needed for tall ship’s visit

Volunteers are needed to assist with the June 5-7 visit of the French tall ship Hermione at Yorktown.

Volunteers will be needed all three days for full-day shifts from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and half-day shifts of 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and 1-7 p.m., said Gail L. Whittaker, York County’s public information coordinator. Volunteers, at least 18 years old, are needed as parking monitors, ticket distributors, ticket line monitors, and translators.

The Hermione is a replica of the 18th century frigate of the same name that carried the Marquis de Lafayette to America in 1780. The Hermione also participated in the naval blockade that prevented Lord Cornwallis from escaping Yorktown in October 1781. ...
