Edwin Billups of Cobbs Creek came across unexpected bounty in his yard, when this volunteer watermelon sprouted from a seed that had been inadvertently left there. The watermelon was 21½ inches long and weighed 31 pounds. The plant came up all by itself—“no fertilizer, no nothing”—and a couple more watermelons are on the way....
