VMS has third consecutive rainout

With heavy rains already pounding the speedway and with additional wet weather forecast for the rest of the day, officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway cancelled Saturday’s scheduled races. It was the Middlesex County track’s third rainout in a row.

“This is so unbelievable; we just can’t get a break from Mother Nature,” said track general manager Clarke Sawyer. “Heavy rains began this morning and have just not let up. Hopefully we will get out of this weather pattern and get back to racing.”

The speedway has a scheduled week off this Saturday and will return to racing on Saturday, July 25, to host Northern Neck Chevrolet/MetroCast Business Night and week ten of the 2015 VMS Dirt Series season featuring the Victory Lap Late Model, Aaron’s Pro Late Model, Budweiser Modified, Truckin’ Thunder Sportsman and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions in action.
