VMFA art exhibit, Nottoway Pow Wow this weekend in Surry

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ traveling gallery, VMFA on the Road, will be making a stop on Saturday and Sunday in Surry, in conjunction with the Nottoway Tribe of Virginia’s Pow Wow. VMFA on the Road will showcase the exhibition Love, Laughter, Tears: An Artist’s Guide to Emotions. This compilation of works from the VMFA collection examines the relationship between art and emotion across various cultures and time periods to explore human emotion as a unifying and universal factor. Both the artmobile and the Pow Wow will be at the Surry Parks and Recreation Center, Colonial Trail West Highway 10 at Highway 31 (205 Enos Farm Drive), Surry. Gates to the Pow Wow open at 10 a.m. with grand entry at noon Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $8, $5 for seniors (age 65 and over) and youngsters under 18.
