VIVIAN CORA CAROLINE KENNARD WILSON

Vivian Cora Caroline Kennard Wilson, 97, of Deltaville, Virginia passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016.

She was a lifelong resident of Deltaville where she grew up on Jackson Creek and was home-schooled on a schooner with her father. Vivian was an honorary member of the MCVRS Ladies Auxiliary for 41 years, where she and her deceased sister, Laura Medicus, founded “The Flea Market” to benefit the MCVRS, which continues to thrive today. Past member of the Donna Chapter OES #179, Order of the Eastern Star, Deltaville, a member of Philippi Christian Church, and Nanny to most, she could take the simplest of items and turn them into something magical. She loved bingo, cooking, soft crabbing, and the company of her friends and family. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Edwin W. Wilson; parents, Cora E. Shreeves Kennard and John A. Kennard; and son, William (Billy) Wilson. 

She is survived by daughters, Joyce W. Saunders and Mary Ellen Priddy (Mitchell); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, as well as close friends and family who always found time for fellowship. 

Funeral services were held Dec. 23 in Philippi Christian Church, Deltaville. Interment was in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, Deltaville.
