Virtual drug overdose training to be held Dec. 8

Training in REVIVE!, Virginia’s opioid overdose and naloxone education program, will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Dec. 8 online.

The class is presented by the Prevention, Health and Wellness Division of the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board.

Naloxone is a prescription medicine that reverses opioid overdoses. It works by temporarily blocking the effects of opioids and helps the person to breathe again. Naloxone is the generic name but can be found under the brand names of Narcan and Evzio. This course provides training on how to recognize and respond to an overdose emergency using this medicine.
