Virginia’s gas prices continue to rise

In Virginia, the average price for a gallon of gas has increased by 12 cents since last month and 21 cents since last year, according to a release Monday by AAA Tidewater Virginia.

This is the highest recorded price for gas for 2021 so far. Crude oil and pump prices will soon be more expensive than the highest price of 2020 despite low demand, the release stated. Since the end of November, the price of crude increased as much as $5/barrel a week, meaning there is a possibility that in 2021 crude oil prices top 2020 as early as this week.
