Virginia’s Covid-19 case rate falls

While Virginia’s COVID-19 case rate continues to improve, the numbers across the U.S. have levelled off to around 14,000 a day, with 20 states reporting increasing case counts.

According to the weekly pandemic update from Dr. Richard Williams, Medical Director of the Three Rivers Health District, the case rate in Virginia is down to fewerthan 190 per day over a seven-day average, and Three Rivers is stable at “very low new case rates,” of just two to three per day for all 10 jurisdictions in the district.

Across Virginia, around 56.8 percent of the total population has received at least one dose of a vaccine, while 69 percent of the population over age 18 has received at least one dose, said Williams. In Three Rivers, about 58.6 percent of the adult population has received at least one dose, he said, with over 80 percent of those aged 65 and over having received at least one dose.
