Virginia Symphony comes to Gloucester

A free family concert featuring the Virginia Symphony will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at Gloucester Court House on the lawn across from St. Therese Roman Catholic Church on Main Street.

The "Under the Stars" concert is being hosted by the Cook Foundation and the Gloucester Main Street Association, said Jen Christman, the association’s executive director. Theme for the concert will be "America the Beautiful."

Guest conductor Ben Loeb will lead the Virginia Symphony in this, its fifth annual concert here.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, she said, and can bring picnic baskets to dine on the grass before the concert or receive a 10 percent discount before the concert if they dine at participating restaurants in the village.
