Virginia Motor Speedway begins 2016 season April 2

The tentative 2016 schedule for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway has been released and includes 13 weeks of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action, three special events and two mud bogs.

The track’s weekly divisions begin their race for the division championships on Saturday, April 2 and end with the final points race of the season on Saturday, Sept. 3.

This year’s division lineup will include the Victory Lap Pro Late Models, Truckin’ Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds and the Collision One Limited Stock Cars.

The first special event of 2016 will be the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth sanctioned by the very popular Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The one-day, $20,000 event is expected to bring some of the nation’s top super late model drivers back to Virginia.
