Virginia Living Magazine announces Best Of winners

Virginia Living Magazine recently released its list of 2024 Best of Virginia Winners–Eastern Virginia, including multiple local restaurants and other businesses.

Categories included best restaurants, best food shopping, best drink, best entertainment and events, best kids, best travel, best heath, best beauty, best home, best services, and best shopping.

For restaurants, Bangkok Noi Thai Cuisine was voted #1 in the category of best Asian Restaurant, Scoot’s BBQ was voted #1 for best barbecue restaurant, Short Lane Ice Cream Company was voted #1 for best ice cream shop. Tony & Milena’s Pizzeria was voted #1 for best Italian restaurant, and Los Portales Mexican Restaurant was voted #1 for best Mexican restaurant.

Also placing for restaurants were the York River Oyster Company Coastal Bar and Grill (#2 for outdoor dining), Tony & Milena’s Pizzeria (#2 for pizzerias), Olivia’s in the Village (#3 for best breakfast/brunch), Creekside Café and Market (#3 for best caterer) and Juan’s Mexican Café and Cantina (#3 for best Mexican restaurant).

In the best food shopping category. Sweet Tooth Cafe & Bakery was voted #2 for sandwich shops and #3 for best bakery, Ware Neck Produce was voted #3 for best farmers’ market, Nuttall’s Store was voted #2 for best specialty gourmet food shop and Northern Neck Popcorn Bag was voted #3, and Kelsick Specialty Market was voted #2 for best wine shop. Gloucester Brewing Company was voted #1 for best drink in the brewery category. 

In the category of Best Entertainment & Events, the Gloucester Arts Festival was voted #1 for art events, The Daffodil Festival was voted #2 for festivals, Arts on Main was voted #2 for art gallery, York River Crossing Cinemas was voted #2 for movie theater, Flat Iron Crossroads was voted #2 for music venue, The Court House Players was voted #2 for performing arts company, and The Inn at Warner Hall was voted #3 for a special event venue.

Ware Academy was voted #3 for best K-12 independent school as well as best preschool in the best kid’s category. Machicomoco State Park was voted #3 for best state parks for best travel. 

In best in Health, Hampton Roads Eye Associates was voted #1 for best eye doctor and Eastern Eye Associates was voted #3. Riverside Walter Reed Hospital was voted #2 for best hospital, Riverside Partners in Women’s Health was voted #2 in Obstetrics and/or Gynecology Practice, Riverside Orthopedic Specialists was voted #2 in orthodontic practice and Pappas Orthodontics was voted #3 and Pivot Physical Therapy was voted #3 for best Physical Therapy Practice.

Dermatology Consultants of Gloucester was voted #1 dermatology practice in the best beauty category, Split Enz Salon was voted #2 for best hair salon and Bridgewater Salon & Spa was voted #3 in the same category.

In best home, Brent and Becky’s Bulbs was voted #1 for greenhouse and nursery, Hodges & Bryant was voted #2 for Plumbing/HVAC Company, Rave Design+Build was voted #3 for architecture firm, and Green Planters Landscape & Garden Center were voted #3 for landscape design.
In the best services category, Tidal Wave Auto Spa was voted was voted #1 for car wash, Gloucester Toyota was voted #1 for best car dealer, Chesapeake Bank was voted #1 for banks/credit unions and Atlantic Union Bank was voted #3, Express Auctioneers and Appraisers, LLC, was voted #3 for auction company, and Ware Academy was voted #3 for preschool.

For best shopping, Brent and Becky’s Bulbs was voted #1 for flower farm, Smith’s Florist & Gift Shop was voted #2 for florist shop, Vashti’s Jewelers was voted #3 for fine jewelry store and Sports Shack was voted #3 among sporting goods or outdoor outfitters.
