VIRGINIA G. SKIDMORE

Virginia G. Skidmore, 85, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014.

She was a native of West Virginia and a Newport News resident for 60 years.

Virginia was a member of the First Church of God for over 50 years. Virginia was a former employee of the Daily Press, Newport News Shipbuilding, and The Virginia Baptist Home.

She loved Bluegrass music, having breakfast with her friends, flowers, and above all spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Fannie Wikle; her first husband, Robert Glenwood Smith; second husband, Ralph Meadows, and brother, McVey Wikle.

Virginia will be greatly missed by her husband, Gilbert Skidmore; son, Harry Smith and wife Debby of Peterstown, W.Va.;  daughter, Becki Miller and husband Mike of Gloucester; brothers, Harry Wikle and Earl Wikle; grandchildren, Yvonne (David) Harrison, Vicky (Jeremy) Willis, Brad (Jennifer) Miller, Jennifer (Eric) Godbout, Heather (David) Waltenbaugh, and Jeremy (Sarah) Miller; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Carter, Ainsley, Clayton, Reese, Hannah, Ellary, Clara, Norah, and Gabrielle; also many nieces and nephews.  Virginia is also survived by her stepdaughter, Vivian Skidmore and her children, Gene, Edie, Libby, and Teresa, and their families, and stepson, Roger Meadows and family.

The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15 at Peninsula Funeral Home, with interment following in Peninsula Memorial Park.
