Virginia Country Real Estate, Inc., located on Route 17, Hayes, is celebrating its 30th year in business this month.

Owner Jeanne P. Hockaday is hosting a reception Sunday afternoon at Warner Hall to mark the special occasion with her current staff, former employees, and some invited guests from the real estate and business communities.

Hockaday said she has seen many changes in the local real estate market during her 39 years in the business. The recent recession was the fourth major downturn in the local real estate market during her years working here.

Another major change, Hockaday said, has been the computer. She said the early years in the business required much more paperwork.

Virginia Country has grown to become a full-service company. Hockaday, the owner and principal broker, said the company’s agents and brokers (there are nine associate brokers) list and sell all types of residential and commercial properties from North Carolina through central Virginia.
