Vintage Pearl coming to Mathews Main Street

The Vintage Pearl, an artisan collective featuring home décor, is coming soon to the site of the former Hudgins Pharmacy on Mathews Main Street.

Kim Genduso of Mathews said the collective will include everything from large clocks made from cable reels—a specialty of her own—to a variety of candleholders. There will be upcycled furniture made from vintage pieces that have been given a dash of modernity, rustic farmhouse signs, repurposed windows and doors, and lots of other items.

Artisans with a diverse range of styles have been invited to join the collective, and Genduso said that, because of the pandemic, she’s handling all the negotiations virtually, from reviewing photos they’ve sent to conducting telephone interviews.

Renovations to the former pharmacy are expected to be completed by Sept. 1, said Genduso, and she’s aiming for a grand opening for The Vintage Pearl on Oct. 3, following COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines.
