VIMS to host Discovery Lab on eels

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science will host a Discovery Lab on eels from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Catlett-Burruss Research and Education Lab at VIMS. There is also an online option for those who wish to attend virtually. According to a release from VIMS, the American Eel migrates from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean to the Chesapeake Bay and its local waterways. Although a stable species, these eels have been impacted by disease and parasites. VIMS Ph.D. candidate Aman Kohli will discuss the current research. At this time, VIMS is planning to host Discovery Labs both in-person and online, but registrants will be notified in advance if the event moves to a virtual-only format. Masks are required for all in attendance in shared spaces on the VIMS campus.
