VIMS to hold ‘Scientist Walks Into Bar,’ After Hours lecture and Marine Science Day

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science has several upcoming events planned.

VIMS will host its next installment of “A Scientist Walks Into a Bar: Graduate Student Edition” from 6:30-8 tonight, Thursday, May 16, at Frothy Moon Brewhouse in Williamsburg. Graduate students Grace Breitenbeck, Isabelle Danforth and Matt LaGanke will each give a five-minute talk on their research, which includes clam aquaculture, fish vaccines and oyster farming.

There will be opportunities to enter to win door prizes and discounts. This event is free and open to the public and no registration is required.

After hours

The next VIMS After Hours lecture will be held on the following Thursday, May 23 from 7-8 p.m. at the McHugh Auditorium in Watermen’s Hall on the VIMS campus. The topic will be on offshore wind and fisheries.
