VIMS to hold Discovery Lab on tidal wetlands

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science will hold a Discovery Lab program on wetlands from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, online via Zoom.

Tidal wetlands are found all along the Chesapeake Bay and have many vital ecological functions, from acting as nursery grounds for local species to helping buffer shorelines from storm surge and tides. VIMS Assistant Research Scientist Dr. Robert Isdell will discuss tidal wetlands and what the future holds for these important ecosystems.

The Discovery Lab is a free, family-friendly program that includes activities and a short presentation. Discovery Labs are presented by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve at VIMS.
