Village Cleaners opens branch on Route 17

Village Cleaners opened a new branch on Route 17 south of Gloucester Court House on April 21.

Owner Brian Kirshbaum said that the new satellite location, in a building that formerly housed a branch of Newport News-based Boulevard Cleaners, gives his business more visibility in the community. His main plant is located on Gloucester Street in the village.

Being on a major highway, the branch has already brought in some new customers, Kirshbaum said, as well as others who normally drive to the plant are finding it convenient to drop off and pick up their finished order at the new site. No dry cleaning or other services are performed at the branch, Kirshbaum said. Village Cleaners has other outlets at Mathews Court House, Urbanna, and Kilmarnock.

In addition, the business has a partnership with Virginia Shoe Company in Tappahannock to provide shoe repair services. 

Kirshbaum’s mother, Brenda, manages the new branch. She is assisted there by Dolly Cowden of Gloucester.
