VFW state commander visits Gloucester post

VFW Virginia State Commander Ken Wiseman visited Gloucester Post 8252 Friday afternoon. The visit was the first leg of a tour of the First District, according to District Commander Jim Gierlak.

The seven posts in the district are located in Gloucester, Hampton, Phoebus, Newport News, Yorktown, Lackey and Tasley on the Eastern Shore. Under the leadership of Past Post Commander Patrick Pratt, the Gloucester post was the only one of the seven to attain All-American status last year, the highest national recognition available to an individual post.

Wiseman’s visit began with a stop to talk with Past All-State Commander Charles Thompson at the Walter Reed Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, where he is a resident. Wiseman then spent several hours at Post 8252, located on Route 14 just east of the Village Lanes bowling alley.
