Veterinarian joins Gloucester practice

Kathryn Sobczyk, D.V.M., is a new associate at Gloucester Veterinary Hospital, Ltd., located on Route 17 just south of Short Lane. Sobczyk started working full-time at Gloucester Veterinary on June 5.

She treats dogs, cats and a wide range of smaller pets. Sobczyk said she especially likes working with dogs, partly because her family always had a golden retriever.

It’s important to try to put an animal at ease while treating it, Sobczyk said, and speak with a calm voice. Some animals are harder to calm than others, she said.

Many pets should be seen once or twice a year for a wellness checkup, Sobczyk said, and if there are problems she and the other veterinarians on staff have modern equipment and can perform operations on site. They also offer dental procedures for pets.

She is originally from Findlay, Ohio, and now resides in Yorktown. Sobczyk earned a bachelor’s degree at University of Findlay and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ohio State University. ...
