Veterans Day

Local students participated in Veterans Day events Saturday and Tuesday. Scout troops from Gloucester and Mathews held their annual regional flag ceremony and planted flags at veteran gravesites on Saturday in cooperation with Windsor Garden cemetery in Dutton. Scout Xander Hogge, below, is shown placing a wreath in the program. Above, Bethel Elementary School held its annual Veterans Day breakfast on Tuesday. Student artwork decorated the cafeteria and entryway to celebrate veterans in the families of the school’s students and staff. Students in all grades lined the hallways and waved American flags as a procession of veterans paraded the hallways to be celebrated and thanked for their service. Bethel principal Tiffany Busch (at podium) addresses the crowd. Standing to her left is Jamie Rose, a teacher and sponsor for the Bears with Bravery group.
