VERONICA MARY ‘RONNIE’ ANDERTON

Veronica Mary “Ronnie” Anderton, 66, of Bohannon, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019.

Ronnie, born in the small village of Crumlin in Dublin, Ireland, on May 9, 1952, was a devoted sister and daughter who helped raise her family of 10 siblings after the passing of her father, John Peter Jones. Her adventurous spirit saw her travel to the Middle East where she and her brother Tony would go on to provide nightly entertainment in the form of singing throughout the various hotels and restaurants in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Her sisters, Bre and Margaret (Mags), would later join her in the Middle East where they would eventually take up residence and live part of their lives. Ronnie also worked as the Logistics Manager for Abu Dhabi Aviation for a number of years.

Ronnie relocated to the U.S. in 1989 with her son John. She was a dedicated mother who made sure she was always available to take her son to his soccer games.

Charles R. Anderton entered her life in July of 1999 and they were married in 2005 in Mathews. Ronnie would go on to join Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury where she worked as a Marketing Counselor for 10 plus years. She was so good at her job that retirement communities along the East Coast would call her seeking advice on how to increase their occupancy rates. In her downtime, Ronnie loved to sing. She was an active member of Grace-Providence United Methodist Church in Mobjack and would sing during the Christmas services each year.

She was predeceased by her sister, Patsy Jones, and her brother, Johnny Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Charles R. “Ralph” Anderton; son, John Walker; sisters, Bre, Margaret and Bernadette, and brothers, Tony, Peter, Paul, Tom, and Patrick.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Grace-Providence United Methodist Church, 84 Grace Street, Mobjack, Va. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
