A funeral service for Vernon M. Green of North, was held at 12 noon Monday, June 24, 2013 in First Baptist Church, Ordinary. He passed on June 18, 2013.

He was a native of Gloucester and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a United States Army World War II veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae Green and son, James Vernon Green Sr.

He is survived by four daughters, Patricia Gordon of Gloucester, Arma Willis (Raymond) of North, Margaret Savage of Gloucester, Anna Cooke (Barry) of Ordinary; four sons, Purcell Green (Grace) of Deltaville, John Green of Ordinary, Robert Green (Bonita) of Newport News, and Linwood Green of Ordinary; daughter-in-law, Lucille Green of Newport News; two brothers, Herman Green (Mary) and Morris Green (Velma) of Ordinary; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Burial with military rites was in Gloucester Fields Cemetery.
