Vehicle submerged

Members of Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue were called to Gloucester Point Tuesday morning for the report of a vehicle in the water at a boat ramp. First arriving units found a vehicle in the water above its roof. An AVFR member put on a dry suit to check for occupants. A quick check showed no one in the vehicle. A line from a rescue unit was attached to the rear of the vehicle and it was then pulled up the ramp. Virginia Marine Resources Commission, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia Institute of Marine Science personnel also assisted. There were no reported injuries and GCSO took over the scene. The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday morning that the submerged vehicle had been reported as stolen from Prince George County.
