VDOT to pave sections of Route 17 at Point

Paving work to resurface multiple sections of the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 17 will continue this week, just north of the Coleman Bridge at Gloucester Point.

Paving will be underway during overnight hours Sundays through Fridays in September until the work is completed and fresh pavement markings are applied, according to Virginia Department of Transportation spokesperson Kelly Hannon.

Northbound and south-bound lanes will be reduced to single-lane traffic, and drivers can expect travel delays near the Coleman Bridge on the evenings paving is underway.

Hannon said motorists are encouraged to avoid distractions in the work zone and be alert for temporary traffic patterns, slow-moving construction equipment, and a temporary rougher ride in milled sections of pavement.
