The Virginia Department of Transportation is taking comments and concerns about proposed intersection improvements where Routes 17, 33 and 198 come together at Glenns.
According to a VDOT notice, and an ad published in the Gazette-Journal, the comment period lasts through Thursday, June 12.
The proposed project will add a new acceleration lane along Route 17 southbound to receive traffic turning from Route 33 eastbound. It would also widen the shoulder on the eastbound 33 turn lane, and install a new traffic signal.
It will also extend the concrete median on Route 33, and install lighting to improve visibility, the notice said.
In addition, stormwater management improvements are proposed.
The changes in the proposal are designed to increase safety and mobility, VDOT said. The project start date is proposed to be January 2027, with completion by the end of that year. The work would cost an estimated $6.3 million.
VDOT said it will hold a public hearing if concerns cannot be satisfied.
