With the arrival of summer, the Virginia Department of Transportation is performing maintenance work on several roads in Mathews County. A VDOT announcement said surface treatment is planned this week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Route 624 (Store Road); Route 629 (Ebenezer Church Road); Route 642 (Fitchetts Wharf Road); Route 658 (Kingston Lane); Route 723 (Piankatank Way), and Route 729 (Weston Hall Road).
