VDOT paving projects to continue through Labor Day

The Virginia Department of Transportation announced that two road paving projects in Mathews and one in Gloucester will cause traffic delays this week and likely through the end of August.

VDOT and its contractors will be milling, paving and placing shoulder stone at three locations this week, said Kelly Hannon, a spokesperson for VDOT. Motorists should expect delays and a rough driving surface in the work zones.

Hannon said crews are expected to be working from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday at the following locations:

—Route 3/14: Crews will be milling and paving in Gloucester County along a five-mile section between the Mathews County/Gloucester line to one mile east of Route 623 (Ware Neck);

—Route 14: Crews will be milling and paving in Mathews County along a continuous 7.08-mile section between Route 3 and Route 198;
