With $8 million in funding already approved, the Virginia Department of Transportation is moving ahead with creating a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Route 3 (Twiggs Ferry Road) and Route 198 (Buckley Hall Road) in Cobbs Creek, with a design public hearing scheduled for next month. The design public hearing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Mathews Family YMCA, Hudgins. A backup date for the hearing is Wednesday, Sept. 9. The hearing will be held in an open house format, VDOT said, with project plans and information available for public inspection, and public comments taken. The purpose of the single-lane roundabout is to improve safety and traffic operations at the intersection, according to VDOT.
