VDOT employee named honorary Gloucester Master Gardener

John Fiddner is not a member of the Gloucester Master Gardeners, but describes himself as an honorary member of that group.

For his dedicated service to that organization, Fiddner received special recognition Monday morning during the group’s monthly meeting at Abingdon Episcopal Church parish house, White Marsh.

Noel Priseler, a Master Gardener who coordinates the ongoing upkeep of planters at the George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge toll plaza at Gloucester Point, thanked Fiddner for having helped maintain the planters for about 10 years.

Fiddner was thanked for regularly watering the plants, fertilizing them, deadheading flowers and prepping for new plants.

Then, Dave Close, Consumer Horticulture and Master Gardener Specialist, Department of Horticulture at Virginia Tech presented a special award to Fiddner for his help to the Master Gardeners and for helping beautify the Gloucester Gateway at the southern end of the county.
