VDOT continues work on RCUT design

The Virginia Department of Transportation intends to continue its plans to place a Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) at the intersection of Route 17 and Woods Cross Roads following the Gloucester Board of Supervisors’ Dec. 5 meeting. The project is currently scheduled for the fall of 2026.

“VDOT is working urgently on the project’s design and preliminary engineering phase to accelerate this date so that the safety needs at the intersection can be addressed as soon as possible,” said VDOT Fredericksburg District Communications Manager Kelly Hannon.

There is currently no approved design as VDOT is still working on that part of the project, but it will be presented to the public when available.Hannon said that “the public will have an opportunity to comment once the proposed designs are developed and I’ll have graphics at that time.”
