Varsity Devils go 3-0 in volleyball action

In a busy week for Mathews High School volleyball, the varsity girls posted three wins over West Point, Northumberland and Middlesex, while the JV team went 1-2 over the same stretch, beating the Pointers while falling to the Indians and the Chargers.

Mathews picked up its most recent win Tuesday night on the road against the Middlesex Chargers. The Lady Devils won the first set, 25-17; the Chargers took the second set, 21-25; Mathews took the third in convincing fashion, 25-8, and won the fourth and final set, 25-19.

Leading the team in kills was Belle Massimino with 15, followed by Anne Stewart (14), Caroline Crittenden (8), and Madisyn Jackson (5). Sarah Brown added 40 assists. Victoria Bing led the team in digs with 21, followed by Brown (15) and Massimino and Crittenden (14 each).
