The Mathews VA250 Committee recently sponsored an art contest for Mathews Elementary School third and fourth graders, with third graders painting American flags and fourth graders painting tall ships, organized by MES art teacher Jessica McClaire and judged by committee members Laura Jones, Craig DeRemer, Sharon Frye and Lynn Lyon. On Friday, approximately 100 parents, staff and friends attended the April Showcase and awards ceremony, at which each of the two grades presented musical programs, the winners were recognized, and all of the artwork was on display.
