The Virginia Chorale, under the direction of conductor Chuck Woodward, will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at Abingdon Episcopal Church, Route 17, White Marsh.
The chorale will present Arnold Schoenberg’s Friede auf Erden (Peace on Earth), one of the great works of modern music, as well as Sing We Nowell, a collection of favorite carols and songs of the season.
The Virginia Chorale is celebrating its 40th year as a vocal ensemble. Since its inception, the group has grown from a community-based early music chorus to a group of professional singers who perform a repertoire ranging from the Middle Ages to the music of today.
This will be the second concert in this year’s Arts at Abingdon Concert series. Admission is free, with a free-will offering accepted. No reservations are required.
A wine and cheese reception will be held after the performance in the parish hall. All are welcome.
