UUFR welcomes Avant as interim lay minister

Marlie Avant, a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock in White Stone, was named UUFR’s interim lay minister for the congregation on Nov. 30. “I am drawn to interim ministry because I believe moments of transition are moments for reflection and creativity,” she said of UUFR’s new beginnings. “Having helped individuals and communities navigate loss, growth and change, I see my role as a facilitator—helping UUFR discern its next chapter, honor its stories and cultivate both resilience and hope.” Several UUFR members participated in the Nov. 30 service, called “Where Every Heart Ministers.” Diana Jamison provided the welcome, chalice lighting and Charge to the Congregation.
