Up in the sky!

Mike Cunningham of Hayes sent us this picture of a “rose” for Valentine’s Day. He took this photo of the Rosette Nebula that he shot from Mathews off Windsor Road. The nebula is roughly 5,200 light years from Earth near the constellation Orion and it took about two hours to collect enough light from it to create this image, Cunningham said. He used a regular camera and lens for the collection, then stacked the 3,500 shots with free software.
