Under the Stars Farm to hold 1st Bloom Lavender Festival

Under the Stars Farm is gearing up for its 1st Bloom Lavender Festival. The festival will take place on the weekend of May 9 at the farm at 11532 Harcum Road in Gloucester.
The two-day festival will be the first large event to be held at the farm, but the owner hopes it is not the last. C.J. McDonald, owner of Under the Stars Farm, said she has been waiting for the festival with anticipation ever since she first conceived the idea over a year ago.
When asked, McDonald views the 1st Bloom Lavender Festival as a, “celebration of Spring” and “a new opportunity in agritourism for Gloucester.” She said she envisions the festival as a way that nearby urbanites can escape their city lives, and adventure to more rural ways of life.
According to McDonald, in other places in America, lavender farms often have festivals to promote the valuable crop and its uses. These farms host tours and hold large celebrations of the seasons, with vendors and music. McDonald is planning ...
