Joining hands, the Central Church United Methodist Women of Mathews and Three Rivers Healthy Families work together “to share our mutual love of children and our respect for families and the difficult task of raising children in this complex and challenging world,” a member said.
The UMW members gather “to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ” while Three Rivers, formed in 1999, serves families throughout the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.
Since 2009, these groups have met about three times a year, with studies on baking, desserts, making music together, and playing games, and building friendships in the process.
A new cookbook underlines this collaboration.
According to cookbook chairman Dee Bane, who was assisted by Christine Ulrich, “It’s from these activities over the past 12 years that it only seemed natural to find a way to share these good things with others. From this ‘The Good Measure Cookbook’ came about,” Dee said.
