The Baystars U16 Barracudas won the U16 Boys Superior Division of the 2018 Capital Fall Classic played Nov. 10 and 11 in Richmond.

The Barracudas first beat Virginia Beach City, 4-0, with two goals from Bay Wiggins and goals from Jose Ruiz and A.J. Brown. They next bested the Valley AFC from Roanoke, 3-2, with two goals from Cayden Brumm and one from Cameron Bishop. 

The championship game against VSA Academy Select from Haymarket was a battle. The Barracudas struck first with a goal by Ruiz but VSA tied it in the second half. 

Still tied after double overtime, the game would be decided on penalty kicks. The Barracudas scored three PKs, with Ruiz, Brumm and Alex Hogge hitting the net before goal keeper Riley Jaquysh came up big, saving two VSA penalty shots to secure the championship.

‘Cudas head coach Pete LeBel cited the outstanding defense played by Sam Cook, Jaxson Ellison, Lewie Lawrence, Nick LeBel and Hogge in the tournament.  ...
