The Baystars U12 Hammerheads soccer team won both of its games this past weekend against the Dynamo Premier and Smithfield Scorchers.

The Hammerheads beat Dynamo Premier, 7-0, Saturday at Woodville Park in Gloucester. Five players scored goals—Caden Thompson, Ashton Taylor, Bryce Fischer, Ryder Talbot and Aaron Hines (who scored a hat trick). Goalies Drew West and Jackson Mandell led the defensive effort.

The Hammerheads then beat the Scorchers, 4-3, in a close game Sunday at Nike Park in Isle of Wight County. Goals were scored by Taylor, Cole Christensen and Hines. Defensively, West made several saves at goal. Connor Duval, Evan Lawson and Haydin Arquette also played an important role in their team’s defense.

Marlins win, 2-1

After two weeks off, the Baystars Marlins girls’ soccer team traveled to Hornsby Middle School in Williamsburg to play TSA City. The Gloucester girls beat their opponents, 2-1.
