Two RILL classes offered at Glenns this fall, one at state park

Rappahannock Community College’s Rappahannock Institute for Lifelong Learning is offering two classes at the Glenns campus this fall. RILL is also sponsoring a program at Machicomoco State Park in Hayes.
“The Ever-Changing Ocean” will be held on Sept. 10, 17 and 24 from 1-3 p.m. at the Glenns campus. In this class, students will explore the forces that shape sea level across time. They will learn how waves, seiches, tides, surges and long-term sea-level rise each play a role in changing oceans. The course, taught by Carl Hobbs, costs $35.
Dave Brown and Thane Harpole, co-directors of the Fairfield Foundation, will present an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the restoration of the Timberneck House at Machicomoco State Park, Hayes, on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. until noon. Discover more about the architectural significance of the building and the evolving vision for its future. This class requires walking and standing. The cost is $20.
