Two residents die in separate accidents

Two recent head-on vehicle collisions resulted in the deaths of two local persons, according to state police.

In King and Queen County, a 2004 Buick Rendezvous was traveling westbound on Route 14 on Dec. 25 when it ran off the right side of the road near the intersection with Rt. 644 around 3 p.m.

According to Sgt. Stephan Vick, the vehicle came back onto the roadway, crossed the centerline and struck head on an eastbound 1999 Honda Civic driven by a Gloucester resident. Vick said the impact caused both vehicles to overturn.

The driver of the Honda, 19-year-old Brianna N. Sulc of Gloucester, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, where she died on Dec. 29, according to state police.

Vick said the driver of the Buick, 74-year-old Peggy K. Didlake of West Point, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was charged with reckless driving. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and fatigue was a fa...
