Two MHS teachers hired for 2017-2018 school year

The Mathews County School Board appointed two new Mathews High School teachers for the 2017-2018 school year, among other personnel actions taken during its Feb. 21 meeting. 

Stacie Albright will be in the school’s special education department, while Jessica Newsome will join the MHS science faculty. Both are graduates of MHS.

The school board also accepted the retirements of teacher Patricia Gaul, teacher assistant Taylor Jacobs and maintenance employee James Raines, all for the 2017-2018 school year.

The following appointments for 2016-2017 were also made: Derek Kibler, head baseball coach; Patrick Beattie, junior varsity baseball coach; Al DeWitt, baseball field maintenance; Robert Thomas, head softball coach; John Ashberry, JV softball coach; C.K.
