Two hearings on tonight’s agenda

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will meet at 6 o’clock tonight, Thursday, March 21, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

Two public hearings are on the agenda. One is a text amendment to the zoning ordinance that would authorize golf carts to operate on Cherry Point Road on Gwynn’s Island. The other is a proposal to convey approximately 112 square feet of property owned by the county to the Mathews Historical Society to allow for a boundary line relocation for the Thomas James Store to accommodate an entrance to the store after the building is lifted.

The board is also expected to take action on two matters that already came to a public hearing during a joint meeting of the board and the planning commission last week.
